Kathy Sue Conley, daughter of William & Lois (Holtzman) Johnson, was born March 19, 1954.
Kathy grew up in Ringgold County and attended school in Mount Ayr and Kellerton. Kathy married the love of her life, David Conley, in the late 1980’s. Kathy lived most of her life in Creston and also lived in Afton.
Kathy worked for the Creston News Advertiser for several years before working at Gummi Bears for 20+ years. Kathy moved to Mount Ayr in 2016.
Kathy was given the nickname “Ratchet” by her dad and it stuck with her for life. Kathy loved to keep busy. She loved being outdoors working on her flowers; she loved to color and spend time on her Kindle. Kathy loved to shop and was a collector of knickknacks. She loved pretty things. There are many good memories with Kathy, and she loved spending time with her grandson Tucker.
Kathy passed away in her home on December 2, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; mother-in-law Betty Conley; brother Ricky Lynn Johnson; grandparents Omer & Jenny Holtzman and Orlo & Esther Johnson; and special friend Jane Ruby.
Survivors include her three daughters Tammy (Brandon) Whitacre of Muscatine, IA, Tonya (Adam) Abell of Creston, IA, and Bobbie Flynn of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren Justin, Kayla, Cody, Jordan, Yesinya, Hector, Cristian, Gavyn, Logan, Addie, Tucker, Harlee, and Caylee; siblings Janet Glendenning of Mount Ayr, IA, Peggy (Al) Rabin of Canton, MI, Randy (Marla) Johnson of Mount Ayr, IA, Roger (Diann) Johnson of Leon, IA, and Howard (Diane) Johnson of Clarinda, IA; many nieces and nephews including special nieces Jenni Hill and Sheila Munyon; special friend & neighbor Sharon Tate; other relatives and friends.
A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Graceland Cemetery in Creston, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established to the Senior Life Solutions at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.
