James Lynn Pollock, 87, passed from his earthly life and into his eternal life on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Clearview Nursing Home in Mt. Ayr.
James, commonly known as Jim and considered throughout Ringgold County as the kindest of men, was born on June 16, 1933 in College Springs, CO and was the eldest of 5 children born to Lynn and Vivian Pollock.
Jim's family moved to Iowa in 1951 and settled in Mt. Ayr where Jim finished high school, married Patty June Tidrick in 1953 and began a life-long love of farming.
Jim helped raise and nurture 3 children, and along with farming, was very active in the Methodist church, serving as a Lay Leader at Wishard Chapel, before transferring his membership to Ellston. Additionally, Jim was a district board member for The Methodist Men, a board member for Aldergates Church Camp, routinely attended the annual Iowa Methodist Conference, and participated in The Upper Room Methodist Men’s Call-in Prayer Center from Nashville, TN.
Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Patty, his parents, his son-in-law Michael Horstmeyer, and sister-in-law Cathy Pollock.
Jim is survived by his children India Leigh (and Steven) Kelley, Misty LaDawn Horstmeyer, Scott Marc (and Lydia) Pollock; his siblings John, Erma (and Charles) Scearcy, Frank (and Judy), and Tom (and Helen); his grandchildren Anthony C. Kelley, Chase Horstmeyer, Ethan (and Hannah) Pollock, Ty Pollock; his great grandchildren Ryan, Damon, Layla and Aaliyah Horstmeyer, Addyson and Anthony S. Kelley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mt. Ayr, Iowa on Saturday, August 8 at 11:00.
A Memorial will be determined at a later date.
