Roxie Trullinger

Roxie Jean (Ward) Trullinger, daughter of Ardis L. and Merle L. (Cannon) Ward, was born April 2, 1929, Wiota, Cass County, Iowa. She passed away on June 5, 2017 from complications of diabetes and congestive heart failure at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, IA. As the oldest of eight children, she learned early on to help care for her younger sisters and brothers. She and her family lived in Wiota, Lorah, Bedford and Delphos, IA.

Roxie graduated from Delphos High School in 1946. Roxie and Doyle Trullinger were married on June 17, 1946, in Atchison, KS. They moved to Molalla, OR and lived there for a brief time. When they returned to Iowa in 1947 they farmed near Delphos and Maloy, IA., later owning farms south of Mt. Ayr until they retired. They lived in Kellerton for a short time before finally becoming residents of Mt. Ayr. As a true farmer's wife, Roxie helped with the farming operations, raised big gardens, did lots of canning and freezing of the produce, was a great cook and baker of many pies, cakes, homemade ice cream, and cookies. She attended all activities that her kids were involved in and was always proud of their accomplishments. Roxie decorated cakes for weddings and special occasions; she was an avid reader and enjoyed working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was a great sports fan; especially of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Roxie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Ruth Monaghan; her brothers Robert Ward, William Ward, Dennis Ward, Thomas Ward, and by her daughter-in-law Gail Trullinger.

She is survived by her children: Linda (Bill) Konnath of Ankeny, IA, Stephen Trullinger & friend Sue Beck of Mt. Ayr, IA, Ellen (David) Brand of Audubon, IA, and John (Cindy) Trullinger of Eldora, IA., grandchildren include Julie (Chris) Crawford, Ted (April) Zimmerly, Jared (Amy) Trullinger, Mark (Deepti) Trullinger, Kevin Trullinger, Karen (Ryan) Murphy, Jennifer (Michael) Younts, Shelli (Robert) Testroet, Scott (April) Brand, Ashley (Matt) Borthwick, David Trullinger, Steve (Jane) Konnath, Scott (Anne) Konnath, Judy (Brian) Giglio, Joan (Tom) Evans, Joey (Darcy) Beltran, Constance Beltran; great grandchildren Dalton and Paige Crawford, Jeffrey Zimmerly, Hannah and Stella Trullinger, Gabrielle, Alexander, and Cassie Younts, Alissa and Emily Testroet, Emma, Marie, Mason and Grace Brand, Hailey and Erik Konnath, A.J. and Austin Konnath, Jessica and Kevin Fisher, Dylan and Connor Beltran; Craig and Alexander Allison; her sister, Jessie Woollums of Mt. We enjoyed Roxie. We are sorry to learn of her death. We look forward to seeing Roxie alive again in the resurrection. Jesus promised, "Do not be amazed at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out to a resurrection." John 5:28, 29

I hope I never forget the fun times I had on the farm at Doyle and Roxie' s. They were neighbors of Grandpa and Grandma Comer. I remember all the laughter and baking that happened in that kitchen of Roxie's. So sorry for your loss, Linda, Steve, Ellen and John. Your mom was a wonderful woman, whom I will sadly miss.

Dearest Grandma, I'm so thankful and lucky, I got the chance to meet you and get to know you. You are a strong woman and a great role model to me. I'm so sadden that I can't make it up there to be there for the family. I wish I could have had the chance to say my goodbye to you. I know you are in a better place with Grandpa. I will always remember all the advice you gave me growing up. I will always love you. Until next time.
