To all of Bob's family, I am so sorry to learn of Bob's passing. I know we had a similar passion. I haven't missed a day of the State Wrestling Tournament since 1974. Last year my wife and I visited with Bob for quite a while right when my wife got to Wells Fargo. I remember telling her (Shari) all about Bob and his many many years working at the tournaments. I really enjoyed our visits. He had seen a whole lot and knew what he was talking about. He was pretty "up front" and blunt about what he had to say. Things won't be near the same at the State Tournament without Bob. He usually spoke about his children during our visits, as well as about wrestling stuff. I will never forget Bob. R.I.P. friend

Raymond had good visits with Bob over the years at the Diagonal Tractor Pull and enjoyed his commentaries about the tractors. We extend sincere sympathy for your loss. Parents and grandparents are important branches on a family tree that are greatly missed when they are gone. May God give you peace and comfort in the days ahead. Raymond and Donna Shields

The entire Howie family is sorry for your loss. We know how much grief, regret and loss you feel. Remember attending all the ballgames through many years with your folks - they were always your greatest supporters even with some rough admonishments thrown in. So many community groups and organizations will miss Bob along with the rest of us. Enjoyed getting to know all of Bob's sons through high school classes (along with a couple of daughters-in-law) and have to say Bob's influence was evident in all. In my case, it was always positive!

The staff of the Iowa High School Athletic Association wants to pass along our condolences to the entire family of Bob Shay. He was such a valued volunteer at our State Wrestling Tournament, not only accurately helping at score tables and clocks, but keeping all of the other volunteers on their toes! We will miss him dearly, and will pray for your family during this difficult time.
