Loreen Reed

Loreen Bartrona Reed, daughter of Benjamin and Clara Belle (Critchfield) Scadden, was born October 10, 1922 at home in Boyd County, Nebraska.

On September 20, 1940, Loreen was united in marriage to Oscar C. Reed in Osceola, Iowa. To this marriage, four children were born: Donna, Judy, Bonnie, and Gene.

Loreen was baptized on April 20, 2003. She was a member of The Kellerton Family Worship Center. She loved the Lord and going to church.

Family was very important to her. She loved when any or all came to visit. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She cared for her family and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Loreen loved to dance and had the most beautiful waltz. She loved to play BINGO. She also loved to crochet and made dolls, doilies, shaws, afghans and anything else anyone wanted.

Loreen passed away April 30, 2015 while a resident of the Mount Ayr Health Care Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; Oscar Reed; daughter Bonnie Ross & her husband Jackie; sons-in-law Melvin Doolittle and Marion Stark; grandson Donnie Ross; great grandchildren Noah Jonathon Edwards and Ava Jaibree Frost; brothers Carrol and Leonard Scadden; sister Wanda Grimm & her husband Dale Grimm; brothers-in-law Leonard Cunningham and Ed Jonas; sister-in-law Donna Scadden.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children Donna Stark of Kellerton, Judy Doolittle of Kellerton, and Gene Reed & wife Cathy of Ellston; 15 grandchildren; Mike Stark, Debbie Holmes, Jacki Stark, Billie Stark, Penni Hewlett, Janie Stark, Teena Hash, Rick Ross, Vickie Ross, Denny Stark, Ron Ross, Joe Stark, Gerri Phelps, Terri Van Gelder, and David Reed; 43 great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren; sister Maxine Jonas of Sioux City, IA; brothers Everett (Pete) Scadden of Gibbon, NE and Larry Scadden & wife Linda of Sioux City, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial fund has been established in her name to be decided later.

Loreen was a kind and wonderful person who always welcomed us whenever we came to Iowa for a visit. May God bring comfort to all those left behind and cherish her memory. Our deepest sympathy to Loreens family.
