Lila Greene

Lila was born September 8th, 1935 at home in Tingley, Iowa to her loving parents Glenn and Opal Waddell Keller. She graduated from Shannon City High School and attended Creston Community Jr. College in Creston, Iowa. Lila married Jack Morris Greene on June 6, 1954. She worked for the Department of Human Services as a Homemaker Health Aid 1 and was then promoted to Social Worker 3 becoming Supervisor over Crawford and Sac Counties in Iowa. She received a letter of commendation from the Governor of Iowa recognizing her outstanding commitment to working with the public. After retiring from the Department of Human Services in 1979, Lila began a study of theology through Indiana Wesleyan College and received her Theology degree. She was commissioned, and anointed, in July 1982 at the Charles City Wesleyan Church in Charles City, Iowa. Lila, along with her husband Jack, then went into the ministry pastoring various churches in Iowa. In 1995 she and Jack moved to Florida where she pastored several different Wesleyan Churches.

They moved back to Iowa to 2007 and Lila began pastoring the Shannon City Community Church. She served as pastor of that church for 10 ½ years, retiring from the ministry in September of 2017. Lila loved the Lord and loved to tell of His love for everyone. Her light shone bright as she shared her faith with all those whom she came in contact with.

Greene Family, So sorry for the loss of your mother and your grandmother. She sounded like quite a woman! May you feel peace and God's loving arms around you as once again you walk through a valley. Sincerely, Rhonda Triezenberg

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. May God give all of you His wonderful comfort and peace. Lila was such a special person and was such a good friend to my mom-she was like a member of our family too. I have so many fond memories of Lila; her strong faith, her wonderful sense of humor, and how she could always tell me what I needed to hear without upsetting me. I will miss her but know that someday we will all be together again in heaver! What a wonderful day that will be! Hugs to all of you.

Our heart is broken at the loss of our dear friend and former Pastor, Lila. Jack our love and prayers go out to you and all the family during this time. Lila will forever be part of our hearts and we will never forget all that you and Lila did for us and our community/church. There are very few people you meet in your lifetime that are as in touch with God as Lila was. You knew when she prayed for you that something was going to happen. It may not always be what you want but something would happen. Her smile was so welcoming and her hugs made you feel right at home. I know she is happy sitting at the feet of our Savior and looking out for all of us. God Bless you all! Love you Steve and Joyce Gregory.
