We look forward to seeing LaVerne alive again in the resurrection, young and healthy. Jesus promised, "Do not be amazed at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life." John 5:28, 29

Sure missed seeing her on Thursday nights in Clarinda at Vaughn's Books. She was one of my better customers. She loved books. Closed my store in 2002. Sure hope these past years were kind to her and her husband. I sure missed seeing her. We moved to Des Moines in 2015 but whenever we took roads through Mt. Ayr...always had fond memories of those days gone by

We are so sorry for your loss! Laverne was a very special lady, she will be missed. It took me a while to get to know Laverne but she could have a funny personality to a very serious one. She will be greatly missed. Fly high Laverne and keep watch over all that you cared for.

I have great memories of visiting with LaVerne at her shop on the square during the time my Mother, Dolores Butler, was a resident at Mount Ayr Health Care. During that time, Dad (Merle) and I went to see and dance to Greg Spevaks Orchestra in Creston. Lloyd and LaVerne were there, too. Turned out LaVerne and I had two more similar likes- dancing to the Big Band sound and one of our favorite songs: Theme from New York New York. LaVerne was a compassionate and sincere person and so fun to visit with! She had a very positive impact on my life. I am so sorry for your loss. She was a treasure!

La Verne had a vast knowledge of human nature and unending compassion for the families she served. She was always willing to share her wisdom with me when I shared an office with her and I enjoyed the friendship with her. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
