Kenneth Weeda

Kenneth Paul Weeda was born September 25, 1936, to Paul & Helen (Swank) Weeda on a farm east of Tingley, IA. He was the oldest of two boys, to his younger brother Keith. Kenny passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022, at the age of 85.

Kenny enjoyed riding horses and helping his dad farm. Kenny’s mother passed away when she was 42. Paul married Darlene Greimann and to this marriage was born two girls, Teresa and Linda. Kenny worked for John Kiburz while in high school and Russell Boyd after graduation. Kenny graduated from Arispe High School in 1954. Kenny began farming and met his wife to be, Marylin Minnick. They were married August 10, 1958. They moved to the Clare Henderson farm north of Tingley, where they lived for 10 years. To this marriage was born four children: 2 boys Terry Paul and Gary Dean and 2 girls Sandra Lynne and Mary Ann. Next, they moved to Marylin’s home place on the edge of Tingley where they lived the rest of his life.

Kenny loved farming, raising cattle and hogs. He drove a school bus for Mount Ayr Community School for 34 years. He enjoyed being around the school kids and also drove the bus for his own kid’s sporting events; he and Marylin were part of the team. One of Kenny’s hobbies was showing cattle and helping his kids with 4-H projects. The family kept busy showing cattle, traveling to cattle shows on the weekends. This led to Kenny raising purebred Simmental cattle and bulls.

The next joy was seeing his kids get married and having grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them grow and teaching them the farm life. One year, they had 17 bottle calves! The grandkids were delighted. He loved watching the kids and grandkids compete in all of their sporting events. If there was a game, he was there. In the mid 2000’s, Kenny and Marylin decided to retire. They enjoyed many trips with friends and family. His favorite was traveling to Alaska. Kenny was able to spend the rest of his days on the farm with the help of family, friends and neighbors.

Survivors include his loving wife, Marylin; children Terry (Jackie) Weeda, Gary Weeda, Sandra French (Steve Dymond), Mary Ann (Tom) Kramer; grandchildren Lasea (Weeda) & Stephen Grace, Nathan Weeda & Hannah, Billie Jo Hovick, Cameron Weeda, Candace (Weeda) & Chet Strobbe, LaShay French, Chase French & Nicole McGinnis, Austin French, Andrea (Kramer) & Travis Van Dyn Hoven, Amber (Kramer) & Logan Wendland, Adam Kramer and Alex Kramer; great grandchildren Channler Henle, Tabby Henle, Koda Henle, Rylee Grace, Avery Grace, Royce Strobbe, Ryder French, Blake Van Dyn Hoven, Peyton Van Dyn Hoven, Jack Van Dyn Hoven, Brody Wendland, Braelynne Wendland, Bryant Wendland; brother Keith Weeda; sisters Teresa (Weeda) Kurtz, Linda (Weeda) Grandfield; sisters-in-law Karen Minnick, Mary Jane Mosby, Linda Swan.
