Juanita Laird
Myrtle Juanita Laird, daughter of Eugene “Gene” & Myrtle (Henderson) Sevier, was born April 15, 1925, at Beaconsfield, Ringgold County, Iowa.
Beaconsfield would always be Juanita’s home. She went to school in Beaconsfield; she was active in the Beaconsfield United Methodist Church, working church suppers and a member of the W.S.C.S.
On October 10, 1942, Juanita married Kenneth Lee “Ted” Laird in Albany, Missouri. To this marriage was born three daughters: Vivian, Sandra, and Vickie. Juanita was a loving wife and mother. She loved her family, and she took great joy in providing for them. Juanita would raise a big garden and she would can throughout the summer so as to have food to serve throughout the winter. Her husband, Ted, passed away March 1, 2003. Juanita would remain on the farm until moving into Clearview Home in Mount Ayr in 2016.
Juanita passed away on April 12, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents Gene & Myrtle Sevier; husband Ted; 2 brothers Delbert (Daivy) Sevier and Donald (Juanita) Sevier; in-laws and their spouses including Gerald Laird, Eugene Laird, Donald Laird, Alice Wicker, Louise Ogler, Beverly Spriggs, Shirley Stephens.
Survivors include her daughters Vivian & Norman Bauer of Rockwell City, IA, Sandra & Raymond Whitson of Ellston, IA, Vickie & Denzel Young of Mount Ayr, IA; grandchildren Becky Whitson (Rick Vanderflught), Jason Whitson, Brenda (Pat) Schamp, Mark Bauer, Kelly Bauer, Amber (Joe) Hayes; great grandchildren Lee Whitson, Brianna, Nick, Kennedy Hayes,; step-great grandchildren Alicia Vanderflught (Lucas McChesney), Wyatt Schamp, Rachel (Caleb) Miller; 2 step-great great grandchildren; brother-in-law Ivan Stephens of Clearfield, IA; other relatives and friends.
A memorial fund has been established in her name to be decided.

Juanita was such a sweet lady. I enjoyed visiting her when I visited other residents in the Nursing home. Also took care of her husband when he was a patient in Mt ayr many years ago. Prayers for her family.
