Doris Todd

Doris Louise Todd was born March 25, 1930, in Overland Park, Kansas to Albert and Ila (Brown) Martin. Doris was later joined by brothers Bob and Howard Martin and a sister Mary Martin Harris.

Doris married Lyle Raymond Todd on May 28, 1950. Lyle & Doris rented farms in many places over the years. To this marriage, 3 children were born: Albert Raymond Todd, Roger Dean Todd, and Lois (Todd) Ibbotson.

Doris started working at Sunny Slope Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide around 1970. She continued working at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center when the new nursing home was built. Doris worked at Clearview Home and at the Ringgold County Hospital in the kitchen until a brain aneurism slowed her down. Doris also cleaned houses and helped care for the elderly in their homes.

Music was a joy for Doris, and you could usually find her humming a tune. Doris enjoyed being a part of the Tingley Kitchen Band.

Doris became a resident of Clearview Home and she passed away there on October 21, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lyle; brother Bob Martin & wife Verna and sister-in-law Shirley Martin; all of Lyle’s brothers and their wives and Lyle’s sisters and their husbands.

Those left to cherish Doris’s memory include her children Albert Raymond (Jodie) Todd, Lois (Al) Ibbotson, Roger (Jeanette) Todd; grandchildren Pamela (Walter) Brokaw, Christina (Jeremy) Sobotka, Jacob Todd, Stephanie Cole; great grandchildren Treyton & Hayden Still, Kendall & Rhett Sobotka, Aydan & Landyn Brokaw, Brycen Todd, K’Brynn & Keyston Cole; brother Howard Martin; sister Mary (Jim) Harris; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Doris and Lyle were our neighbors for awhile on the farm when I was growing up. Nice people. Doris was a very sweet lady. She will be missed.
