Christa Oshel

Christa Kathe Oshel was born August 3, 1943 at Heidelberg, Germany. Her parents were Martin and Ludwig Ortwein.

Christa lived in Germany and worked at a paper production factory. She met Larry Oshel, who was stationed in Germany. They were married in Germany and while Larry served in the US Army, they would go to a United States base only to return to an Army Base in Germany. They enjoyed living in Germany. After Larry retired in 1980, they moved to Diagonal, Iowa where she has since lived. Christa enjoyed traveling and made several trips back to Germany to visit family and friends.

Christa worked at Taylor Fiberglass in Diagonal for over 20 years and worked for several years in the laundry department at Clearview Homes in Mount Ayr. Christa most of all loved being a grandma. She will be remembered as the “world’s greatest grandma!”

Christa passed away on April 29, 2019 at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Gunter Ortwein.

Survivors include her husband Larry Oshel of Diagonal; son Tony (Kris Davis) Oshel of Diagonal; daughter Susie Oshel & friend Tiffany of Diagonal; grandchildren Raphael Coulthard, Tara Oshel, Amanda & Leigh Davis, Madeline & Claire Oshel, Silva & Callum Oshel; sister Ursula Bertsch of Mannheim, Germany; several in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
