Alice Dillenburg

Alice Marie (Rinner) Dillenburg, daughter of Lawrence & Nellie (McMillion) Rinner, was born August 14, 1936 at Ellston, Iowa. She graduated from Ellston High School in 1954. Alice excelled at basketball and was the star forward for the team. The girls basketball team made it to state tournament play but unfortunately, Alice was not able to attend and compete with the team.

Alice married Marvin Dillenburg on December 6, 1956. She worked as a cook at several places in Mount Ayr including the Shamrock Café, Small’s Coral, and the Meal Site. She attended Wishard Chapel Community Church for many years.

Alice enjoyed riding motorcycles and 3-wheelers around the farm. Her enthusiasm for motorcycles never went away. On her 80th birthday, she was treated to a ride on her nephews Harley-Davidson and she cherished that memory.

Alice passed away October 2, 2019 at the Greater Regional Hospice House in Creston.

Survivors include her daughter Teresa Dillenburg of Creston, IA; brothers Ronald (Lorral) Rinner of Yale, IA, George Rinner of Winterset, IA, and Charles (Ellen) Rinner of Creston, IA; sister Juanita (George) Spencer of Creston, IA; brother-in-law Bill Thompson of Bennett, CO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Marvin; brother Fred Rinner; sisters Mary Etta Dillenburg and Jeanne Thompson.

Memorials are to the family for them to designate.

So sorry to hear of Alice's death. She was a very nice lady, and so friendly. Her family is in my thoughts and prayers, and May God comfort you in the loss of your loved one, Alice Dillenburg.

I worked with Alice at the Shamrock Caf and Small Corral. She was a good woman. When my mother died, Alice baked a cherry pie for the family dinner. We look forward to seeing Alice alive again in the resurrection. Jesus promised, "Do not be amazed at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life."
