Richard Dale Scott, son of Noel and Georgia (Marrifield) Scott, was born November 24, 1935 at Jameson, MO. In 1949, he was promoted from the 8th grade at Jameson Community School.
Dick was born with Muscular Dystrophy, but he did not let that effect his life. He overcame the obstacles with determination and grace and there wasn’t anything that he couldn’t accomplish. Dick worked as a farm hand and at a saw mill and a filling station. In his later years, Dick did lawn service work and was a gifted craftsman with woodworking. He made lots of furniture and other items. Dick was known to do his own sewing, he would modify his shoes to help with his walking, and he could make “something out of nothing.”
On January 28, 1965, Dick married Oleeta Mae Scott at Gallatin, MO. They lived in Maysville, MO for 19 years before moving to Mount Ayr in 2005. Oleeta passed away on August 9, 2015.
Dick liked his black & white cowboy movies on tv. He attended the Mount Ayr Senior Center; enjoyed playing bingo; and on Sunday’s, he enjoyed breakfast at the legion followed by church at the Mount Ayr United Methodist Church.
Richard passed away on January 6, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Oleeta; and several siblings.
