Howard Alvin Peterson was born July 10, 1938 in Omaha, Nebraska to Sylvia Elma (Fales) and Lloyd Alvin Peterson. He attended high school in Nebraska. Howard’s mother, Sylvia later married Avery Wager who took on the responsibility of helping raise Howard from a young age.
On February 20, 1959 Howard was united in marriage to Rosalie Maye Dunbar in Davis City, Iowa. They settled in Red Oak where Howard worked in construction with sheet metal on commercial buildings. After retirement Howard began working at the Earl May Warehouse in Shenandoah for 12 years. Howard was a member of the Local 3 Union out of Omaha. Howard and Rose enjoyed going camping and playing cards with the Smith family. In his spare time, he would go fishing and spend time outdoors. You could often see him visiting with neighbors especially Mike Neessen.
Howard and Rose moved to Beaconsfield where he resided until his passing on Wednesday, May 22, 2019.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years Rose; two sons Howard (LeAnn) Peterson of Malvern and Russ Peterson of Beaconsfield; daughter Cleta Ann (Ron) Allen of Graham, Washington; five grandchildren Shay (Marie) Peterson, Scott Peterson, Shaw Peterson, Ashley (Eric) Soat, Jesse Allen and Christine Allen; three great-grandchildren Jase Peterson, Noah Peterson and Olivia Peterson. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters-in-law Donna Wolfe and Mary Furhman.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak, Iowa.
