Becky Giles, of Kellerton, Iowa, passed away on August 8, 2019 at the age of 63. Becky was born July 26, 1956. She was the youngest daughter of Blaine A. and Bonnie (Shackleton) Scott. Becky grew up with an appreciation of animals, especially dogs and horses. Blaine was a farmer when Becky was growing up which meant there were many chores to do around the farm.
Becky was known for her cooking. She ran the café in Kellerton for a time and there were days she would have a line waiting outside for tables to open. She also worked many years as a CNA, sometimes in nursing homes and later doing home health care. She would often go above and beyond her job to help the people she cared for. She spent several years driving a bus for the Grand Valley and Lamoni schools.
Becky enjoyed visiting with people when they would stop by to drink coffee with her and when she was selling Avon. She loved to put together cookouts and get-togethers for friends and family members. Becky always enjoyed watching the sun rising and setting while listening to the birds sing and the crickets chirp. Baking was one of Becky’s favorite pass times and many kids who grew up around Kellerton would stop by to see what she had around for treats.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Blaine A. and Bonnie Scott; brother Richard Scott; and brother-in-law John Brown. She is succeeded in death by ex-husband Tom Giles of Kellerton; sister Ronda Brown of Kellerton; children Cory and Amanda Giles of Pleasantville, Ken and Jody Stewart of Kellerton, and Charlie and Jacci Giles of Kellerton; as well as 15 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be directed to the Mount Ayr Health Care Center.
